About
Establishment
I spent many of my young adult years breeding and exhibiting German Shepherds under the Dirigo kennel name and even exhibited my dog Luke at Westminster on two occasions. Although I loved my GSD’s, I soon realized that I wanted to place my efforts into a smaller compact dog that produced fewer genetic health-related issues yet were just as intelligent and with the same desire to please their owners – and so in 2007 - Drangonfly Cardigans was established!
Philosophy
I feel fortunate that under the guidance of some of the top breeders in New England, I was able to gain the knowledge and experience to develop a breeding program that focuses on key breed characteristics, longevity, and integrity. I pride myself on breeding beautiful, healthy, and stable dogs that are excellent representations of the breed standard as well as make exceptional pets and companions.
Values
All Dragonfly Cardigans are raised in the home and are exposed to a multitude of different sights and sounds early on which helps condition them to everyday surroundings they will experience when they go to their new homes. Socialization, crate training, and regular grooming are introduced in the first few weeks. Only animals with proper temperament and health testing are incorporated into my breeding program.
The health of the animals I breed is of the utmost importance. Testing is used to help evaluate animals for genetic mutations linked to diseases, including the genetic risk factors most relevant to the Cardigan Welsh Corgi.
All breeding stock are:
Promise
Ultimately, I want to be sure the puppies I produce go to responsible homes that will provide them with the care and attention they deserve. Each puppy placed into a pet home is sold with a written contract, including an agreement that if the owner cannot keep the puppy/dog for any reason, no matter the age of the dog, it is returned to me. No questions asked. Our dogs can always come home...
